SustainED was present moderating for the introduction of the Samuel Center for Social Connectedness Belonging Lab in Toronto, Canada. This discussion presented the aspirations and objectives of the Belonging Lab, and discussed much of the research already generated on social connectedness and the Right to Belong.
SustainED was a key speaker at the UN COP26 side event, Ambition on Gender and Climate Action: Global Young Feminists on Gender in the NDCs, hosted by Care About Climate, Inc and Global Marshall Plan Foundation. SustainED discussed feminist needs and interventions within our Nationally Determined Contributions, and how it can help countries accurately reflect emissions reductions targets, and address intersecting climate action needs.
SustainED was represented as a moderator on the GLF session leading up to COP, discussing bioeconomy solutions, as opportunities for global societal debates and decisions around issues of production, land use, diets and emissions. SustainED focused on conversations around assessing synergies and tradeoffs around existing solutions, and how marginalized communities such as forest-dependent communities, women, Indigenous people and youth are involved in the implementation of bioeconomy solutions.
SustainED was featured as a speaker at the Radical Futures Conference, Envisioning a Post-COVID19 Transition City, hosted in a hybrid format in Korea. The presentation was focused on “A Global and Intersectional Movement towards Environmental Justice” for the second cohort of the Asia Young Activist Researcher Fellowship.
SustainED was represented as a moderator at the GLF Bonn Digitital Conference, focusing on youth leadership and involvement for the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration. SustainED moderated discussions on how to leverage on existing youth movements and networks to ensure ecosystems are restored, and to ensure that youth leadership is amplified.
SustainED was represented as a plenary speaker, as a future leader, the ‘next generation,’ and optimistic visionary disrupting systems to change. SustainED spoke on how to collaboratively move quicker, together, to secure the rights to a healthy life for present and future generations.
